BIOGRAPHY:Jeremy Simmons began writing and recording music over twenty years ago, drawing inspiration mostly from the immediate world that surrounds him. The persistence of memory haunts his music, and a dreamlike quality is to be found throughout. In a few songs he blurs the meaning of his lyrics, while in other tracks it’s as blunt as a cricket bat. This is intentional according to Jeremy, who believes that the songwriter’s own meaning is less crucial than what the listener perceives. His acoustic music draws much from the English shoegazer bands of the 1990’s, though an undeniable blues strain is definitely in there! Castrovalva is his second CD, and the first published on any label. Available on June 10th on the Sidedown Audio label, Jeremy considers this release a huge step towards getting his music heard.
Jeremy also writes and records ambient music under the name Olaus, owing a lot to the influential sounds of Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis and Brian Eno. His ambient CD, titled In A Quiet World, has been featured on several internet radio stations and used in a series of student films at the University of Cincinnati.
