Jay Gnospelius

Jay Gnospelius
In October 2006, Jay Gnospelius was struck by a high-speed commuter train, severing his right arm and left leg above the knee. Through a series of miracles and miracle workers, Jay rose from the tracks, learned to walk, then run ,then bike, then swim and finally chart a path to the US Ski Team and a bid for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

Reborn with a new body, part human and part symbionic prosthetics, Jay created his new moniker :

The 7 Million Dollar Man.
The 7 Million Dollar Man philosophy is 'Human optimization through technology, athleticism, partnership, tolerance and love. One thing that Jay loves is music. Making it, listening to it, healing to it, training to it...
It was Jay’s passion for music that got him thinking: ‘Being that I’ve got bionic legs, arms, hands, feet and hooks,
shouldn’t I have bionic ears ? ’ His quest led him straight to Ultimate Ears.’

Thus began a dialogue and close collaboration between Jay and UE co-founder Mindy Harvey to create the ultimate bionic training headphones. Mindy took the lead making suggestions while Jay inquires about in-ear custom molds and original artwork. The result was a kick-ass pair of red custom UE-11s featuring a female action hero with a high-powered machine gun instead of her left leg.

Once the package arrived, Jay immediately integrated them into his daily work, commuting and training schedule. In fact, due to the custom fit, you literally cannot get a word in edgewise when Jay is engaged in an Ultimate Ear session.
At the end of a week of use, Jay sent Mindy a note saying: ‘You've truly pushed the power and passion of listening, living, training and evolving to music way beyond the limit through to the next level. I am UEs biggest fan and cannot wait to see where life with my bionic ears takes me from here.’
Look out for Jay in his upcoming TV series, The 7 Million Dollar Man, and on the slopes at the 2010 Vancouver Winter
Games.
