Musician Ear Plugs

Musicians unlike others practice and perform in different settings and environment; they are exposed to high levels of sound for longer periods of time. Depending on their exposure to sound, different sound protections during rehearsals and performances, they are required for safe, best quality sound.

Musicians' ear plugs are custom made, in other words 'tuned cavities' that reduce the overall intensity of sound to a safe level, just like turning the volume down and bringing about clarity. There are also options for delivering music inside the noise protection of an earplug. As designed by a number of classifications, ER-25's and ER-9's provide either more or less attenuation than ER-15's. Some musicians use one type of attenuator in one ear and one type in the other, depending on the source and location of the sound.

ER-20 Ultra-Tech Earplugs

These earplugs offer the same acoustic properties and construction as the ER-20 Hi-Fi earplugs. The only difference is the color and the convenient removable retaining cord (20 dB attenuation).

Whatever your taste in music, every musician shares a common problem: your hearing is at risk. Don't think that if you avoid the sheer volume of rock or brass bands that you're in the clear. Even the piccolo generates sound levels up to 112db.. roughly equivalent to a jackhammer at 30 feet. This high volume can, over time, result in moderate to severe hearing loss and/or risk of tinnitus (ringing in the ears). The ER-25 filter and acoustically tuned earmold was developed for musicians. It attenuates (reduces) the sound equally across all frequencies by 9db, 15db, or 25db, depending on the filters inside.

This means you hear your music accurately but at a safer level. For example, if the sustained sound level is 100db, you'll hear the music at 75db. According to O.S.H.A., this is a safe level for eight hours of continuous exposure. You also avoid the occlusion effect.. sounding like your voice or instrument is in a barrel.. common to generic, over-the-counter earplugs.
